Post WinterSun History

Here is a little history thing I made in September last year. The beginning is talking about a secret cult amongst the Protectorates. (Now that I think about it, maybe that shop in Shire could be the meeting place...) This was meant to be a rough draft. Never made a final. Feel free to give constructive criticism.

"Eventually, as the cult grew, strange things began to happen in WinterSun. Attacks and robberies from this cult increased widely. This is when the Protectorates rose up. They fought back the Druids with all their might. The Druids were almost immediately pushed into a corner with nowhere to run. But even so, they had one last trump card up their sleeves. Some Protectorates turned out to be traitors working with the Druids. The traitors, disguised as Protectorates, snuck around in a battle camp during the night and killed many Protectorates in their sleep, weakening their army. The traitors then fled toward the southeastern part of the continent where their brothers awaited them with a powerful former wizard, now a Druid. There lied the rift seal to Underworld. They chanted a long incantation around the seal and broke it. Upon the breaking of the seal came a loud and powerful quake that could be felt throughout the entire land. The quake was so powerful that it split the western and southern part of the continent. From the rift emerged a large number of Monsters that appeared to be being led by a bulky dark-skinned Monster, who was presumptuously their leader. The Druids attempted to form an alliance with the Monster leader against the Protectorates but all their efforts were futile. The Monsters simply ignored their offers of alliance and attacked the Druids with rage and brute force. As this was happening, a small army of Protectorates rushed the Druids. The captain of the Protectorates had decided to go out for a walk that night and when he came back he spotted a group of hooded figures running past him in the distance. He followed them and discovered what they were up to. He immediately rushed to camp to alert the others but most of them turned out to be dead. The remaining Protectorates decided that by the time they informed the king about this matter it would already be too late to stop the Druids so they decided to go after them and put a stop to it themselves. Everything turned to chaos that night. Unbeknown to the Protectorates, the Druids had already broken the rift seal. It was too late for them to realize this. They charged into the middle of a battle between the Druids and the Monsters. The Monsters ended up devastating both parties and barely took any casualties. Few Druids and Protectorates managed to escape and survive the intense battle. But many who did survive were badly injured. After the incident, many more criminals were executed rather than imprisoned. And the Druids tried desperately to rebuild their cult but little hope remained."

Edit: I forgot to add that the Monsters were devastated as well. All in all, each faction suffered. And guess who is the lucky one that gets to restore their faction's glory. The player of course!

I really enjoyed this. It could be longer and more detailed, but overall for a beginning story, it's quite well done.

A great game, focusing on early development. The minute I downloaded this from the blackberry store,i was pretty excited as this was the only decent rpg.It had no 'built-in' story nor a purpose, until potential was created through many players joining. They had somehow created infrastructure based on clans, a story that was pretty cool in role playing. As some of you know this story was based on an evil clan :). Anyway, I say the purpose of an in-depth story or history is not needed as the
players or any social factor contribute to making one. Winter sun is an amazing game with that much potential that the players start the drama not the creator. I

Yeah, I also believe that we should be the creators of our own story in that sense. We just need the right tools. But a little background stuff wouldn't hurt.

I agree Enderguy, the point of role play is to role play, meaning that there must be a background story, moreover we are supposed to be the ones playing the game, so yeah, Ian should introduce a story

Indeed. But I really feel like most of it should be us making our own stories as we play. We should have a story so we can know about the world we're in yet we should also be able to choose what kind of person we will be in the world of WinterSun. For example, if we wanted to betray our own kind and convert then we should be able to. I'm pretty much saying that it should be like life in a way. As stated earlier, we just need the right tools.

IF Ian introduces more rpg tools this would make a great retro, yes the story is a bit dim, but the point and purpose of this game is great.Gradually adding a story would fo fine, as it will give us, the players, a chance to create or alter the story. In game conflict plays a part to the story
